Purpose of Practicum
As a fourth-year Bachelor of Science in Computer Science student, my participation in the internship at Studio Pinya as a front-end developer serves to apply and further develop my skills in web development within a professional environment. Specifically, my role entails contributing to the creation of Studio Pinya"s website, which serves as a platform for artists to upload and explore novels or comics. By actively engaging in this internship, I aim to gain practical experience in designing and implementing user-friendly interfaces while collaborating with the team to deliver a visually appealing and functional website. This opportunity not only enriches my academic learning but also provides valuable insights into the industry and contributes to the growth of Studio Pinya as a startup company.

WEEK 1 - Febuary 19 - 24

During the first week of our project, we established our workspace and met with the CEO and staff to define website features. We then researched essential tools and technologies, setting them up by the third day. Diving into tutorials, we honed our skills and understanding. As the week advanced, we shifted to practical tasks, initiating the websites UI design. Additionally, some team members explored Next.js and Tailwind CSS further through tutorials and practical exercises.

WEEK 2 - Febuary 26 - March 1

Throughout the week, I focused on front-end UI design using Next.js and Tailwind CSS. Day one started my own UI design project, laying the groundwork. Day two continued refining and expanding this work. Day three began replicating UI designs from our UI/UX developer. Day four involved developing the front end for the registration page. Day five refined registration page functionality and made minor adjustments for consistency and user-friendliness across registration and login pages.

Throughout the week, I focused on front-end development, enhancing user experience. Day one involved creating navigation elements for various pages. Day two centered on refining the admin dashboards front end. Day three saw development of the novel approval page and versatile components. Day four focused on improving the chapter view pages presentation. Day five continued refining the chapter view and associated components for a cohesive user experience.

WEEK 4 - March 11 - 15

Throughout the week, I focused on updating our websites front end to reflect a new design. I finalized the admin dashboard layout on day one and moved on to implementing the new design on novel pages, including the novel approval page, on day two. Day three involved adapting the new design for the novel chapter view. On day four, I continued front-end development while also meeting with a front-end developer expert to ensure alignment with best practices.

WEEK 5 - March 18 - 22

During the week, I focused on front-end development tasks. Day one involved initiating work on the artist sides front end and crafting the artist side sidebar. On day two, I created a modal for the admin side and integrated all front-end pages provided by the developer. Day three was spent fixing functions on admin-side pages and finalizing the sidebar. Day four saw the start of development on the create novel page for the artist side, and day five was dedicated to its continued development.

Throughout the week, I focused on enhancing the front-end of our websites create novel page. On day one, I concentrated on creating modals to improve the user experience. Day two involved further refinement of the front-end design and addressing any bugs present on the page. By day three, I implemented a rich text editor for the create novel page and incorporated additional functionalities to enhance its usability and appeal.

Throughout the week, my focus was solely on developing the front end of the project page and its components. On day one, I dedicated my efforts to enhancing the front-end and addressing any errors present. Day two involved further refinement and bug fixing. On day three, I continued with the development process, ensuring the seamless integration of components and pages. By day four, I had made significant progress in creating and optimizing the project page's front-end. Finally, on day five, I concentrated on implementing new designs and improving the user interface to align with project requirements.

WEEK 8 - April 8 - 12

Throughout the week, my focus was on developing the front end of the admin side, particularly the originals and review novels pages; day one involved initiating work on these pages with the aim of completing them the next day, while day two saw me addressing sizing issues with the sidebar, fixing other components, and beginning to create modals for the review novels page, with day three dedicated to continued work on these modals and components, ensuring they align seamlessly with the project's vision. As the week progressed, each day presented new challenges and opportunities for refinement.

WEEK 9 - April 15 - 19

Throughout the week, I focused on developing various pages and modals for the project. On day one, I fixed modal functions from the previous task and created a new page for the review novels chapter view. Day two involved starting the artist details page and completing associated modals. On day three, I worked on the originals novel view page and created modals for it. Day four, I focused on fixing tables on the originals novel page and adding new modals and functionalities. Finally, on day five, I continued to add functions to modals, components, and buttons across the project.

During my internship journey at Studio Pinya, I've been deeply immersed in the intricate process of developing our novel website, Studio Pinya, employing the powerful trio of Next.js, TypeScript, and Tailwind CSS. While the journey has been filled with its fair share of challenges, each hurdle has served as a stepping stone for growth. Through persistent effort and a commitment to continuous learning, I've navigated through complexities, honing my skills and deepening my understanding of these technologies.

Working alongside a diverse team of frontend and backend developers, as well as collaborating closely with a talented UI/UX designer, has provided me with a rich and dynamic learning environment. Together, we've synergized our efforts, sharing insights and expertise to create a cohesive and visually appealing platform for readers to enjoy immersive storytelling experiences.

The journey hasn't just been about technical mastery; it's also been a journey of personal and professional development. Embracing version control through GitHub and adopting Agile methodologies with tools like Jira have broadened my horizons, equipping me with essential project management skills that extend beyond coding.

As I reflect on my experiences and look toward the future, I'm excited about the possibilities that lie ahead. Armed with newfound knowledge, skills, and a passion for web development, I'm eager to continue contributing meaningfully to projects like Studio Pinya and beyond, making a tangible impact in the ever-evolving landscape of digital storytelling.

During our educational tour in Cebu City, we were privileged to visit six distinguished companies, each offering unique insights into their respective industries. CEBU BUSINESS INCUBATOR FOR IT provided valuable insights into startup facilitation, research marketing, and funding acquisition. INNODATA KNOWLEDGE SERVICES enlightened us on digitization processes and server management techniques. PAGASA MACTAN RADAR VISAYAS WEATHER PRSD offered a fascinating glimpse into manual weather measurement methods and meteorological education. DYNATA PHILIPPINES INC showcased their focus on business-to-business solutions development, while DASH ENGINEERING PHILIPPINES INC demonstrated their expertise in model crafting and design using specialized tools. Finally, MANDAUE COMMAND CENTER underscored the critical role of real-time monitoring and rapid response in urban management. Collectively, these experiences expanded our understanding of diverse industries and underscored the importance of experiential learning in our educational journey.
